Bonus Blog - Time for a fresh face!

Well, emotionally, right now I feel like that great, number one song in the early 70's by that oh-so popular family band - The Osmond's. That's right, I feel like a yo-yo...

Today I called Dr. Blinkoff to see what he thought about this endoscopic ultrasound. From what I read on the web, it's becoming the tool to use for checking to see what stage rectal cancer is at.

During our phone conversation, Dr. Blinkoff told me that the pathologist report said that there was cancer down at the cauterization line of the polyp - which most like would mean that it's in the walls - just how much/far into it, we're not sure. So it would seem that the surgeon - Dr. Comstock - didn't read the path report fully. I told Dr. B what happened about Comstock not being prepared on Friday and still not having much info yesterday. I think the realization that Comstock didn't read any report hit Blinkoff and a red flag went up. Dr. B said that he'd get me set up for the ultrasound. An hour or so later, Dr. B calls me back to tell me about another plan. A new face - Dr. Adkins, a surgeon who specializes in the colon. Dr. B said that this guy is the best in the business and everything would be fine. Dr. Adkins' office called me later in the afternoon for an appointment tomorrow (30 April) at noon. Dang, I hate driving around these Tucson streets around noon - what with all those high-noon, old west type shootouts! (That's for you, Nic!) Ha!

I've already heard rave reviews about Dr. Adkins. My supervisor on the new project I'm transitioning to at work, well, her husband had Dr. Adkins when he had colon cancer. I guess there were some good writeups about this doc - from patients of his. Hearing about this makes me feel at ease (well, as at ease as I can be these days). Mary said that when her husband had his surgery, Adkins had him in on Thursday for the office consult and he was in surgery the following Monday. This guy doesn't drag his feet like someone else I recently met.

So, we'll see what happens tomorrow.

{Okay, I copied the idea of the "bonus blog" from the king of Blogs - Boze. You know what they say, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery! Ha!}
