Busy weekend

What a busy weekend - working on one thing! The weather has been great and the temps are beautiful - when the sun is down. I was working outside nearly all weekend and today (Sunday) I was out all afternoon in the sun (with sunscreen, yes). Dang, it was hot. In the morning, temps in the shade were awesome. Unfortunately, the shade in my project area disappeared by noon.

I'm trying to get some of the more strenuous projects out of the way before I'm out of commission for 6 weeks. So, this weekend I was putting a water line from the front of the house, next to the garage, to the back yard, nearly to the other end of the house. I put in 60' of line and reconfigured this mess that some dopey plumber had on the front water connection.

On my 4th visit to Lowe's this weekend (that includes Friday) I finally had all the pieces I needed for the hose bib I was putting on and the tie in line from the front. About 2 minutes after I walked in the door, Daniella and I were ready to eat our 100% beef hot dogs. Phonus interruptus... Deb called and she had a flat tire! She was in front of Target (which is right next door to Lowe's). Being the understanding husband I am, I told her to wait a few minutes, we're eating and then we'll be right there... :o)

Someone lost their wheel weight and the holder for the lead was lodged firmly in the tire (or tyre if you want). The tires were in need of replacement anyway. My favorite store - Costco - is only a few miles from here, so we headed down there after I put the donut spare tire on and left the Pilot at the Tire Center to get the $740 in tires put on! Ouch! Yeah, but they'll last about 70,000 miles, not 30K like the original tires.

3 hours later, I was finally done with my project (no leaks, thank you) and on our way back to get the Pilot. White lettering out on the tires, looks good.

Nice quick dinner tonight by Chef Harry. Javelina bratwurst (thanks to a neighbor) and fresh fruit (and a beer for dad). Good eats. Iain knew what he was eating and loved it. Daniella and Debi turned their noses up at it. Of course, I waited until after they ate their portions. :o) The name - javelina - before the sausage type put a stigma on the food. It's better than stuff you buy at the butcher anyway. This guy (or gal) was running around wild before it ended up with Brian's tag on it that morning.

Anyway, now it's time to get ready for bed; ready for the work week. My 3 day weekend flew by.
